'3 Feet High and Rising' is the debut studio album from hip hop trio De La Soul. Released on March 3, 1989, the album marked the first of three collaborations with producer Prince Paul, and its title was inspired by Johnny Cash's song "Five Feet High and Rising". Departing from the popular hardcore-style, violent hip hop of the time, De La Soul's positive lyrics helped them stand out, especially with their single "Me, Myself and I." Through their use of sampling, '3 Feet High and Rising' is often cited as a pioneer of 1990s alternative hip hop and jazz rap. Double magenta colored vinyl LP pressing.
